Expert Septic Planning for Coastal and Inland Properties

Falmouth, Maine is known for its mix of coastal homes, wooded neighborhoods, and open land—all of which require smart, site-specific septic design. Whether you’re building a new home or upgrading an existing system, Main-Land Development Consultants offers the expertise to guide your project from evaluation to permitting.

Why Septic Design Is Critical in Falmouth

In Falmouth, each property brings its own set of environmental and zoning challenges. From protecting Casco Bay to working around rocky soils and steep grades, careful design ensures your system functions efficiently and meets town and state requirements.

Environmental Responsibility

Our team evaluates proximity to wetlands, coastal buffers, and water tables to create septic systems that protect natural resources and avoid future issues.

Code Compliance

We design systems that satisfy Falmouth’s local plumbing codes and Maine state wastewater regulations, making your approval process smoother.

Long-Term Value

A well-designed septic system adds value to your property and reduces the risk of costly repairs down the line.

What to Expect During the Septic Design Process

  1. Site Visit
We’ll meet you at your Falmouth property to understand your project and walk the land.

  2. Soils Testing
Our Licensed Site Evaluators conduct on-site soils analysis to classify drainage conditions and locate where the disposal field can go.

  3. System Planning
We set an Elevation Reference Point, mark out the area with grade stakes, and begin design work based on setbacks, slopes, and environmental factors.

  4. Design & HHE-200 Submission
Back in the office, we prepare a custom design and generate the HHE-200 form required for town approval. You’ll usually receive the completed form within two weeks of our site visit.

What You’ll Need to Do

After receiving the HHE-200:

  • Submit it to the Falmouth Local Plumbing Inspector for review

  • Pay the town’s plumbing review fee (based on your fixture count)

  • Coordinate with your septic installer and the LPI for construction inspections

  • Ensure the LPI has signed off before the system is buried
